Political Vigilance for Democratic Awareness Campaign (2008-2012)

This project was launched in four districts: Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Saptari and Udayapur of Nepal. The main objectives of this project were: a) to make people aware about the complicated voting mechanism of the Constitutional Assembly election and impart education on what citizens need to know in order to exercise their right to vote. Other objectives of this project were: b) generate political dialogues and brainstorms on issues like restructuring of state, economic policy of state, electoral system, mode of inclusion of marginalized section of society in the mainstream and c) beginning of the punitive action against the human rights violators in the community.

Preliminary findings of political dialogues and minutes of brainstorming sessions held in four districts have been submitted to the Constitutional Assembly in Kathmandu.
